CBCT Level 1 & Level 2

In October 2020 the Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) and Public Health England (PHE) published new guidance covering the training requirements for dental professionals involved in Dental CBCT.

The new 2020 requirements are:

Level 1 (Core): 

For all dentists, dental nurses with the CDR, dental hygienists and dental therapists who are invloved with Dental CBCT.

Level 2 (Further) Training in Dental CBCT Justification and Image Interpretation:

For all dentists and radiologists who undertake the clinical justification and interpretation of Dental CBCT images.  Level 1 (Core) must be completed first.

Level 2 (Further) Training for Operators Performing Dental CBCT Imaging*:

For all personnel who may be entitled to act as operators undertaking dental CBCT examinations (dentists, dental nurses with the CDR, dental hygienists and dental therapists).  Level 1 (Core) must be completed first.

* Level 2 (Further) Training for Operators Performing Dental CBCT Imaging should be provided by trainers experienced in the specific CBCT machine and software that the operator uses.  This is usually the CBCT manufacturer or distributor.  We do not offer this programme.  We only provide Level 2 (Further) Training in Dental CBCT Justification and Image Interpretation, which is for dentists who undertake the clinical justification and interpretation of Dental CBCT images.
